Big Stripe is a large, oblong stripe averaging up to 30 lbs. The rind has a light green background with darker green stripes. The color holds well and is slow to fade. High yield potential. Larger than Desert Storm or Patriot. Strong vigorous plants provide cover for the fruit. Flesh is red and sweet. GOOD SHIPPER. Big Stripe could be very helpful in areas where larger sized melons are desired. Tolerant to Fusarium Wilt.
Created from a controlled method of pollination in which the pollen of two different species or varieties is crossed by human intervention. Typical F1 varieties are deliberately created to breed a desired trait. Gardeners who use hybrid plant varieties usually purchase new seed every year, however, over several years the seed could eventually be used for open pollination
